In fact, it’s the royals’ motives that seemed questionable. With the catalyst in unleashing Rick‘s full potential in their possession, I assume that they are aware of the incoming invasion of pirates and it’ll be a matter of time before Rick really needs to point a sword at someone. The question is, who will it be pointed at and what kind of hero will he become? The revelation that Neris, Airy and Amil were castaways themselves astounded me, which, could explain Neris‘s top notch fighting ability. Whether the sisters, Rick, Kaguya as well as the puppet at Hank‘s workshop all have some sort of connection is a question to consider. The reason behind concealing the truth of their origin until now is beyond me, however, it does open doors to a vast array of possibilities in the coming episodes as the series slowly transitions from a time of peace to times of peril. I assume that each and every race introduced so far will play a crucial role in the impending struggle against the devious outlanders. I’d mentioned in my previous entries about Amil‘s dilemma in regards to Kaguya. Contrary to my original speculations, she turned out to be more worried over Rick‘s potential decision to leave the island rather than him remembering Kaguya as a possible love interest. I wouldn’t rule out the latter completely as that could eventually become a factor later on in the series. We also got some insight in regards to Madera as the savior of the 3 sisters. The revelation that Madera wasn’t as kindhearted in the past surprised me given that she’s been highly regarded by the townspeople, Hank as well as the elves. Another interesting thing about this character besides her mysterious past was the fact that she seemed to possess a lot of insight into various things, for instance, the incoming storm in episode one. It’s as if the respect she receives was due to her being some sort of prophet that protects the island from certain massacre. Despite the pirates becoming startled to discover their war vessel ablaze, it doesn’t seem like they’ll leave quietly as in the preview next week, we see their leader make an appearance at the town’s local tavern. I wonder what they intend to accomplish by infiltrating the island given that a large amount of their forces were wiped out in an instant. Recap Rick was in a dilemma in regards to his discovery of Xiao Mei as the true identity of the phantom thief, Black Tail, which, had affected his work at the bakery. Madera revealed her knowledge of Rick‘s circumstances and had him personally make a delivery to Xiao Mei to clear his mind of any lingering uncertainties. Upon arriving at Xiao Mei‘s residence, Rick was surprised that she was actually expecting them. Xiao Mei anticipated Rick to have come to ask her actions as the phantom thief. She recognized that he was troubled at the thought of whether he’s truly a swordsman or baker after having discovered his skill with the sword during the night of their encounter. Xiao Mei revealed her motivation of being a modern day Robin Hood. However, Rick dismissed her as simply a common criminal, which angered Xiao Mei and he takes his leave. Rick began to question his own worth until Xiao Mei finally confronted him at the shores. She convinces him that instead of worrying about his true strengths, he should focus on what he thinks that he needs to do. To demonstrate her reasoning, she takes him to a church where she revealed that she’d been assisting the children there all along. After some thought, he returns to Madera‘s residence and expresses his resolve to the sisters. He admitted that he’d been down lately after the incident at the castle. But after considering his importance to the bakery and the townspeople, he has decided to continue as a baker instead of pursuing his past as a skilled swordsman. Amil arrives one early morning at Rick‘s ship to find that he’s already awaken. She later admits to him that she’s worried he’d leave the island once he discovers his true identity but was overjoyed to hear that he’d decided to continue being a baker. With the furnace repaired, business at the Le Coeur resumes as usual. On one evening, a pirate ship discovered their war vessel completely obliterated. The pirates’ startled leader immediately called to withdraw all forces.
