Shining Hearts Episode 3 Posted on: April 29, 2012 | 572 views Impression: The excitement I endured from last week in regards to our mysterious cast away, Kaguya sort of turned out to be a waste as she spent a majority of the episode in a slumber. As for the small amount of screen time where she’s active, I couldn’t immediately recognize her voice belonging to that of Houko Kuwashima. The focus of this episode was instead placed upon her mysterious pendant, which was revealed to have a strong connection to Hank‘s puppet (which, funny enough I originally thought to be a damsel in distress). Another thing that I was a bit disappointed with were the lack of action scenes. I was hoping for some sword fighting action judging from last week’s preview, but I guess that will have to wait till later on in the series. Besides one exchange of artillery from both sides and Hank getting knocked to the ground from his puppet’s activation, there was barely enough action to thrill me. I’m guessing that I should expect the same next week. With the entire town’s residents in a state of panic let alone the crippled state of Le Coeur‘s operations, looks like the peaceful days of the island is slowly drawing to a close. Of course, Rick‘s Bread of Happiness may be about to sooth the distress of the townspeople. Hank could most certainly use a piece. Maybe that would fix that old geezer attitude of his and convince him to lower his fees to repair that furnace. Well, it looks like things might just work out judging from the preview, showing him with Rick at the firing range. Jealousy is starting to heat up for Amil as she notices Rick‘s interest in Kaguya, hinting a possible connection with her as they both drifted to the island in a similar manner. It’d be an astounding revelation if Rick‘s sword also happens to be another piece of mysterious artifacts in relation to Hank‘s puppet and Kaguya‘s pendant. Like having the puppet and the pendant provide the beacon and the sword to be used as a key to the treasure beneath the sea. Regardless of my speculation, the gang is going to be hitting the water next episode anyway with the cat-like Xiao Mei, which, is sort of strange because she’s suppose to be a cat, but cats aren’t suppose to like water. Nevertheless, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are to be searching for the treasure provided by that beacon from this episode. Recap Rick was awaken by Amil upon the discovery of a mysterious woman who had drifted ashore. Doctor Ron as well as Neris and Airy were alerted to the scene. Upon analyzing the woman’s condition, Doctor Ron assured Rick and the sisters that she was in no immediate danger and advises that she rest at his clinic for the time being while they return to their own tasks. Things don’t go well for Le Coeur as debris from the storm caused an explosion, severely crippling the bakery’s furnace in the process as well as destroying any unprocessed bread. Unable to obtain immediate assistance from the local blacksmith, Rick and the sisters decided to close down Le Coeur for the time being and asked Madera for assistance. She advised the group to seek out the infamous dwarf Hank who she thought would be able to help. Hank, who lived alone up in the mountains was obsessed with a mysterious puppet in his workshop. Upon Rick and the sister’s arrival, Hank sets an exceedingly high fee for his services. Left with little choice, the group agreed to continue baking for the time being, hoping to raise enough to pay for their furnace’s reparation. Upon their return to Madera‘s, they discover soldiers reporting at her doorstep. It was revealed that the military had issued a black-out order for the entire town upon discovering a fleet of ships straying too close to the island. Fearing the possibility of an invasion, the military decided to take action, sending troops to the shores in an attempt to make contact with the closing fleet. During a regular delivery to Dr Ron‘s clinic, Rick and Amil were informed of the mysterious woman’s awakening. They were shocked to discover that she has no recollection of the events prior to being drifted ashore apart from her name, Kaguya. Just when things couldn’t possibly become more awkward, Kaguya‘s pendant activated. It floated in midair shining a bright purple light. Troops noticed the light from the clinic and tried desperately to stop the mysterious glow from the pendant. Upon seeing his comrade being knocked over by a strange force coming from the pendant, one of the soldiers drew his sword and made his approach towards Kaguya but Rick tried to stop him. Meanwhile, Hank‘s puppet also mysteriously activates and a strange force knocks him to the ground. The puppet emits a beacon into the sea nearby. Also immediately, a vessel from the mysterious fleet opened fire onto the island, causing a catastrophic explosion. The puppet responded by launching a beam of light onto the vessel that opened fire and destroyed the entire fleet in the processed while the troops on the shores watched in horror. Fortunately for Kaguya the pendant deactivated shorted after the puppet’s attack on the fleet and she was spared. On the following morning, she remained bedridden while Rick and Amil makes their return home. On the way Amil reminisced how she and her sisters discovered Rick the same way as they did Kaguya while Rick speculated that he himself may have some connection with Kaguya.
