Sankarea Episode 8 Posted on: May 26, 2012 | 308 views Impression: So Rea‘s pedophilic father finally made his move. But I never would’ve thought that he’d stoop as low as to hire a bunch of weirdos to kidnap his own daughter. Come to think of it, the entire Sanka household with the exception of Rea herself are a bunch of weirdo’s. No wonder its so frustrating trying to act normal in such an abnormal environment. Rea‘s father’s actions in this episode made me hate him even more despite his portrayal being rather comical. I hope that Chihiro will teach him a lesson he deserves. Wanko gets some screen time of her own where she once again expressed her jealousy of Rea. I wonder if she’ll later consider becoming a zombie herself to try and steal Chihiro away. However, I believe that Chihiro has already evolved from just caring about Rea merely because of his responsibilities of Rea becoming a zombie. While having to put up with abuse at her own mansion was bad enough, it doesn’t look like Rea has avoided that completely with Chihiro doing a day to day inspection of her entire body. The part where Chihiro was expecting Rea to cough up an objection like Babu did was hilarious. The episode ends in a cliffhanger. But what’s worse is that they’ll not proceed with the continuation of it until the week after as next episode will be a filler episode focusing on Mero. The name of the episode translates to ‘Mother’s hand…’, which, I will assume that we’ll get some insight on Chihiro‘s and Mero‘s mother’s past as well as how she past away. However, we will have some scenes with Rea, leading me to wonder what prior connections she has with the Furuya’s. Recap Rea officially settles into the Furuya household while Chihiro continued close day-to-day observation of her body. Based in these observations, he discovered that zombies do not require sleep nor dispose of waste. In additional, they require occasional intake of Hydrangea to prolong the effects of the resurrection potion. In exchange for allowing Chihiro to monitor her condition, Rea had him hold his promise of giving her the opportunity to experience life as a normal girl. So the two made their way to the shopping district the next day at Chihiro‘s expense. Meanwhile, Wanko made her way to a local bath house after a long day’s work. As she relaxes, she pondered upon Chihiro‘s confession in taking responsibility for Rea as a zombie. She was soon joined by Mero and her friends. After finding out from Mero that Chihiro had gone on a date with Rea at the shopping district, she decided to clear her frustration by mingling with Mero and her friends for another bath. Rea happily enjoys her shopping excursion with Chihiro. Little do they know that they’re been spied upon by Rea‘s father’s henchmen, who planned on ambushing and abducting Rea at the right opportunity. Rea and Chihiro soon stops for a lunch break. As Chihiro leaves Rea alone to purchase his lunch, the henchmen attempted to make their move but were stopped by the appearance of Yasutaka who dragged Rea all the way to the entrance of the shopping district. Despite Yasutaka‘s urges, Rea refuses to go outside, heeding Chihiro‘s warning of avoiding exposure to sunlight. Her father’s shady henchmen took this opportunity to ambush Rea, however, Rea proved to be too strong for them to restrain and were eventually overpowered by her. Chihiro rushed towards Rea after hearing her screams and upon his arrival, he was amazed to discover her attackers on the ground. Having failed their original plan in capturing Rea, the shady henchmen took Chihiro custody instead. Having being informed of the situation, Rea‘s father ordered for Chihiro to be brought before him.
