Sankarea Episode 4 Posted on: April 28, 2012 | 391 views Impression: The beginning of the episode had me cheering; “Serves you right!” at Rea‘s old man’s face, but it’s ultimately disturbing that despite all that’s happened, he still insisted on continuing on with his delusional ways. I’m not at all surprised that the rest of the Sanka household did little to falter upon Rea‘s departure, but rather, focused their concern on their own individual ideals. Apart from her blood red eyes, Rea seemed just like her usual self. Now that Chihiro had finally realized his dream of meeting a zombie girl (a hot one at that) I was kind of expecting him to jump with joy, but all we got to see instead was just a few nosebleeds with little pink hearts near the end of the episode. Chihiro‘s grandfather’s reaction when he saw Rea naked as well as the scenes afterwards where he tried to leap onto Chihiro‘s sister was absolutely hilarious. Sada was such a horrible name for an old woman, let alone a babe with a body identical to Rea’s. Wanko got slightly more screen time than in previous episodes. I actually found her quite appealing as a love interest since her introduction. Her upbeat, childhood friend-ish personality continued to flourish in this episode as she lectured Chihiro on his disregard for her. There were quite a few romance comedies that I’d seen in the past where I actually hated the childhood friend character as the love interest but in this case, I’d love for Wanko and Rea battle it out. As Rea‘s body started to degrade, it made me increasingly concerned of her eventual fate as we progress through the story. Judging from the preview, it would seem that her body’s stiffness and her own deteriorating consciousness will act as a comedic device in the next episode. Seeing how Babu returned he his old self this episode by consuming the Hydrangea leaves, I’m guessing that this will at least act as a temporary solution for Rea‘s case also. Recap Rea‘s father laid in despair in his bathtub after having bear witness his daughter rose from the dead and denied his ownership of her. He was later confronted by his wife who demanded the retrieval of their daughter for the sake of her position as the chairwoman of the Sanka Academy. After being informed that Rea resides at the Furuya household since her apparent demise, her father rose up from his grief and swore vengeance against Chihiro. Meanwhile at the Furuya household, Chihiro contemplates on the situation in regards to Rea with her new found existence as a zombie while she sewed her gashes together. At the same time, Wanko, unhappy over Chihiro‘s abandonment of her at the sewage tunnel decided to give him a piece of her mind. Babu was seen atop of a tree from outside the window, having mysteriously returned to its usual self as if it was still alive. As Chihiro confronts Rea in regards to her future intentions, she revealed to him of her desire to continue on as if she’s a normal girl. Before long, a sudden urge took over Rea‘s body, causing her to move closer to Chihiro. Before their lips met, they were interrupted by Wanko. With the need to hide Rea‘s presence, Chihiro was forced to leave her behind while he leaves to accept Wanko‘s confrontation at a local riverside park. Chihiro apologized to Wanko for abandoning her during their pursuit of Babu and assured her that the cat hadn’t been feeding on anyone else. The two were joined by Chihiro classmates, with Yasutaka expressing intense jealousy over Chihiro‘s acquaintance with Rea. Thinking that no one else was in the house, Rea took this opportunity to take a shower, only to be discovered by Chihiro‘s grandfather. He mistaken Rea for his own wife and leaped onto her and caressed her naked body. She soon released herself from his grasp, rushed back to Chihiro‘s room and laid on the floor in exhaustion. Chihiro returned home in the evening to find that Rea has yet to be discovered by the members of his family. Upon entering his room, he discovered Rea half naked on the floor and acting rather strangely as if she’d succumbed to her zombie instincts. Noticing the stiffness of her limbs as well as her impaired speech, Chihiro deduced that her body was indeed suffering from the effects of Rigor Mortis. With Rea‘s wish to experience life as a normal girl in mind, Chihiro became determined to find a way to save her body before it degrades any further.
