Sankarea Episode 2 Posted on: April 13, 2012 | 496 views Impression: I was content that this week’s episode provided more insight into Rea‘s dilemma as well as the rather disturbing life that she was brought up in. Rea‘s situation reminded me of her counterpart, Kaho in the OVA, Natsuiro no Sunadokei except that Rea‘s father is much more sadistic or delusional. Him messing with another family’s life adds to my outrage. Viewing Rea‘s side of the story further justifies her motive to kill herself and start anew. There wasn’t much to see in the zombie department except the few scenes of a film being played on a laptop computer as well as that split second that took Babu to escape from his eski. I was actually expecting Rea to fall off into the canyon after retrieve that poisonous herb, but I guess her transformation will have to wait until next or the episode after. I’d really like to see the look on her father’s face as his daughter plunges to her death. Believe me, he deserves every bit of misfortune he can get. As for Wanko though, I wonder if its common practice for her to take shack up at Chihiro‘s household. Either that or, Wanko really does have some serious feelings for him. Regardless, it looks like the two will be hunting for the newly resurrected Babu in the next episode. I wonder what they’d do even if they do find him as the poor cat doesn’t seem to be anywhere close to its old self. Recap Rea Sanka only wanted a normal life, however, day after day, she’s forced to put on a fake smile. Back in the present, Rea continues to assist Chihiro with his experiments. He’d mixed all the poisonous herbs he could find, however, a page in the cryptic resurrection manual proved unreadable. Rea came up with an idea and leaves after assuring of her return. Rea revealed her past of being brought up and pampered in a high class mansion. As time passes she grew increasingly uneasy with her father’s strange hobby of taking naked photographs of her as well as the feeling of being isolated from her surroundings. However, she had a friend that stood by her and was also able to warm up to her family. Rea eventually brought up the courage to discuss her father’s strange hobby to her friend, whom encouraged Rea to speak her mind to her father. But as she did, her father took ruthless action against her friend’s family as well as forcing her to transfer out of school. Rea was able to retrieve the herb Hydrangea from a nearby cliff, but not before being saved by Chihiro from falling off the cliff-edge. He soon prepared a concoction with the addition of Hydrangea, which, he planned to give to Babu. Unbeknownst to Chihiro, Rea took a sample of the potion inside a small vial for herself. After discovering that the potion failed to take any effect, Chihiro admitted his selfishness of wanting Babu to return and called it a day. Seeing Rea‘s injuries from the accident from earlier, he offered to escort her home. However, they were discovered by Rea‘s father as they neared the mansion. Chihiro returned home to find Wanko at his house, who became suspicious after hearing of his strange activities after Babu‘s death from his sister. She forcefully opened the eski that contained Babu‘s corpse, only to find a frightful creature swiftly pouncing out into the night sky. Rea was constrained, forbidden from going to the outside world even for school. Convinced that she’d never see either Babu nor Chihiro again, she decisively ingests the vial of potion she’d retrieved earlier with intention to end her life even without any chance of being revived.
