JACKXU.net on iphone!!

I’m happy to announce that you can now access an iphone friendly version of my blog at your fingertips. This will enable you to catch up with some of the latest anime series while on the road, whether you’re taking a train to your workplace or school, or while hitching a ride during your vacation. Just visit my site and take a look around.

I had announced sometime near the end of last year that I’d be working on the iphone version of the site. So here it is. However, I wouldn’t say its perfect. Right now, it’s a beta version at best as I’m still working on making it more stable. But at least it’s functional and does what its meant to do.

So let’s go through some of the site’s features. First of all, you’ll notice in the first screenshot image that my site has a splash page, which, you can visit here. This will be like a terminal that links to all my other sites (including my blog site). At the moment, only this page and my anime blog are iphone friendly. On the splash page, there’s an option to switch to the classic mode and back. I’m currently still working on this functionality for the other pages so please bear with me.

When you get to my anime blog’s home page (second screenshot image), you may save it to your iphone home screen and it will have a distinguishable icon as if its an app (third and fourth screenshot image).

Back to the home screen, you’ll see a series of tabs below the header navigation. The first one displays the latest 5 posts. You may only access one post at a time with the accordion tabs so to minimize the amount of scrolling. You may navigate to older posts in the link right at the bottom where it says ‘older posts’ and then it’ll display the older set of 5 posts and so on.

The second tab contains the main series that I’d be covering in the current season (can only do 4 on my own due to time constraints). You can access specific episodes by tapping on the ‘Select Episode’ bar and then via the selection wheel. Tap done when you’ve made your selection and it’ll display the particular article in the first tab, which will be renamed as ‘The Article’.

The third tab contains links to all of the series reviews in my blog. The method of selection is pretty much the same as in the second tab. The number next to the series is the number of posts in that category. Selecting a series will result in the listing of all of the posts in that category in the first tab, which will be renamed as ‘Related Articles’. If there are more than 5 posts in that category, only the latest 5 will be displayed and a link will be available right at the bottom if you wish to view the older posts.

Now, let’s go back to the main page. By now, you would’ve noticed that right below the tabs, there is a set of 2 tips. The first one means that tapping the site logo at the top will take you to my index page shown in the first screenshot image. The second tip tells you that you must tap the ‘read more’ link within each post in the first tab to access the full article. The heading link to each post only expands or collapses the post content but will not get you to the actual article.

So try clicking on the ‘read more’ link and wait for the full article page to be displayed. You should have already noticed the series of images that have been loaded thus far. You can actually tap them to view the larger version of the image. This will work the same way on every page except for the ‘Reader’, which, I will tell you about now. The ‘Reader’ in your iphone browser simply allows you to view text better. However, it does not do well with images unfortunately. It won’t even display the first four screenshots of my posts simply because its in a table (done this way so that the rss feed doesn’t display them as block when unordered lists were used).

Finally, if you scroll down to the very bottom of the article, you will be able to access the comment section. Tap on the relevant fields to fill in the required information in order to submit a comment.

Thoughts	Here's your typical beauty-and-the-best high school action series where you start things out with an absolutely pathetic male protagonist who redeems himself after an encounter with the high school beauty. Although, the setting in itself is quite cliche, I could certainly see some unique elements being thrown in with the male protagonist being overweight being most apparent. With any possible fanservice kept to a minimum, it can potentially be a great series to watch.

Thoughts	I have no idea what to make out from this series. The story itself features a rebel idol group that intends to spread the love of music, which was apparently banned to mankind. Although, the idea for the plot is unique in itself, I'm quite skeptical as to whether it actually works as an anime series. Like I always do, I will have a glimpse of the first episode to confirm my suspicions but I'm not to hopeful of what to expect, especially with the entire main cast of newbies.

Thoughts	I never would've anticipated this, but now we have a brand new installment of Eureka Seven with new characters and story. Honestly, I haven't seen the first series myself but I've heard enough about it to consider giving it a go in my free time but never got around to. As for this series, it's a story of a young boy with mysterious powers who lived peacefully on an island until a bunch of scumbags decided to initiate an invasion. If I recall correctly, this is very similar to the plot in the first installment and I wonder what connection (if any) exists between the two besides the apparent Mecha and Sci-Fi elements.

Fate/Zero Part 2 fate-zero-s2

Thoughts	The title is self explanatory. What I'd like to mention though, was my utter disappointment of the way part 1 had ended, which, I regarded as highly unorthodox on a negative light. It'd failed to produce any sort of suspense within me, in fact, it felt as if what I originally thought to be a 24 episode series was simply cut in half with little to no editting. With that aside, I anticipate that the remainder of the plot will show some promise as we reach further to the conclusion of the fourth Holy Grail War. I have no idea how the series will redeem itself with the second half. Let's just hope they don't ruin this as much as they have done to the series already.

Hiiro no Kakera hiiro-no-kakera

Thoughts	At first glance, this seems like an ordinary reverse harem. It tells a story of a girl who gets herself mixed up with some sort of supernatural phenomenon upon returning to a village of her childhood but saved by a similarly mysterious male entity. While there she meets other males who takes an interest in her. The plot and character designs somewhat reminds me of Hakuoki, which, I'd greatly enjoyed watching. From what I know so far, I can see great potential in this series.

Thoughts	This is definitely one of the many series that I'll be anticipating in the upcoming season. Much like the SOS club in 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya', this is a story of a group of students investigating a certain mystery within the school, though, funny enough, the club they belong to, the Classic Literature Club don't actually sound like one that would engage in such a troublesome task. Another thing that appeals to me is the return of Ai Kayano and Yuuichi Nakamura ('Inori' and 'Gai' from 'Guilty Crown' respectively) in a new collaboration. In addition, we have Daisuke Sakaguchi who some may remember as Sunohara from 'Clannad'. An interesting combination of main casts indeed and I'm itching to see the outcome of it.

Thoughts	This would be the second season of the typcial school comedy drama that air in the previous autumn. Since I haven't got around to watching the first installment I might as well sit this one out for the time being. The same applies to whether I'd consider blogging this show.

Thoughts	Yet, we have a sequel of another well received title and what's more, I haven't watched the first season for this one either. Apparently, the reason why I chose not to watch this was due to the fact that I didn't like the idea of the male protagonist getting killed and later resurrected as a zombie. Could be amusing to some, but most definitely not my cup of tea.

Thoughts	This would be the upcoming season's only sports series. It tells a story an initially underestimated, short middle school boy player who, upon joining the school's basketball team gives everyone a huge surprise. This sort of reminds me of a manga called 'Cross Over' by Seo Kouji where the characteristics of the protagonists from both stories are seemingly identical. From the looks it, this seems to steer more towards a female audience so I might just give this one a pass.

Thoughts	You know what this series reminds me of? 'Sket Dance' and with a mix of 'Seitokai Yakuindomo'. The plot follows that of a first year high school girl, Medaka, who, after being elected student council president, deploys a suggestion box she calls 'Medaka' box which encourages students to submit their problems as well as feedback. Later she'd be joined by other weirdos to form the wackiest student council ever. I actually have heard of the manga where this series is adapted from but even so, the only thing that appeals to me is the presence of Ai Kayano and Aki Toyosaki. I'd have to find out more from having a glimpse at the first episode to see whether it has any potential. However, I don't think I want to find myself in that territory blogging-wise.

I honestly do no fancy warrior women bringing eachother to the brink of humiliation, even if it's a simple act of war, so I guess I'll steer clear from this territory like I always had.

Thoughts	I was hoping for a direct sequel to the former mahjong madness series, Saki. Nevertheless a spin-off is still good as long as it displays the same comedic and strategic elements as its parent series, which, actually got me interested in Japanese mahjong. Aside from a new story, we have a new set of main casts. All that's left to do is see what surprises this combination has to offer.

Thoughts	Here, we have a rather interesting story of a high school boy who's obsession with zombies prompted him to attempt resurrection his dead cat only to stumble upon the school idol in the verge of suicide. A unique combination of genre's indeed, making it hard for me to make any sort of constructive judgement at first glance. I'd have to watch the first episode and see how it goes.

Thoughts	From what I've heard this is based on a Japanese social networking game with a samurai theme. At first, I thought this to be a sequel to 'Sengoku Basara 2' but even otherwise, I'll be expecting something along those lines. An appeal combination of cast indeed, but I'm not sure if it'd be enough to make be want to blog or even watch it.

Thoughts	Houka Kuwashima plays a cast away on a remote island and meets a swordsman who works at a bakery. While struggling regain her memories and emotions, a swarm of unwelcomed visitors tries to get the swordman's precious treasure by any means necessary. From first glance, I'll be expecting something along the lines of 'Valkeria Chronicles' (probably because of the bakery element in the story) minus the large guns and tank engines. Indeed, one of the few series that I'm looking forward to this season.

Thoughts	And yet, we have another Mystery-Horror-Romance combination. However, the story seems alot more serious than that of Sankarea. I will be expecting something along the lines of 'Asura Cryin' and 'Another' as the story involves the main protagonist's encounter with a ghost girl at an old school building who had lost memories in regards to her death as well as other secrets within the school. Not sure if its something that I'll consider blogging, but watching it is a different matter.

Thoughts	A story of two brothers; the younger one, Hibito, achieves his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut while the older one, Mutta, loses his job. With Encouragement from his younger brother Mutta resolves to give becoming an astraunaut another go and his adventure begins. Pretty much your usual mature slice-of-life series maybe with some drama and comedy thrown in here and there. I'll probably watch the first few episodes but I don't think I'd be expecting much.

Thoughts	Having a rather amusing title is one thing, but naming a bunch of moe school girls after assault rifles was enough to make me burst out with laughter. The plot follows that of a teacher who gets tranferred to a school full of girl's with pro level marksmenship as well as how he learns to adjust to this new environment. But like with any other comedy series, blogging this is a no-go with my current blogging style.

Thoughts	Another one of my anticipated series in the upcoming season. Despite having prior knowledge of the manga, I have yet the opportunity to indulge myself in any of its specific contents. What I do know is that it's a story of two rivals heros fighting desperately to save mankind from certain monstrousities as well as the organization that created them. I am a big fan of Action-Romance series. With the addition of Mamoru Miyano, Kana Hanazawa and Daisuke Namikawa as the main casts, I'm sure to expect an exciting experience.
